But instead of falling into a cursed sleep, Zinnia falls through worlds and sees a thousand Sleeping Beauties reaching out to touch the spindle. What’s a drunk Sleeping Beauty fan/birthday girl to do at the end of a party like that? Prick her finger on the spindle, of course. Now that she’s turning 21, Zinnia’s best friend, Charmaine, is throwing her the ultimate final birthday party with a Sleeping Beauty theme that even includes a spinning wheel. That’s why she’s always identified with Sleeping Beauty and her curse, finding comfort in the fairy tale since childhood. Zinnia Gray has a rare disease and no one diagnosed with it has ever made it to the age of 22. One of them ends up in a romantic relationship with a side character that is queer and adorable. This book does not have a central romance between the two main characters. My only gripe is that I wish this were a full-length novel and not a novella, because I wanted to see so much more of the characters and their journey. In case I’ve persuaded you to hop right down to the purchase links below, here are the two things you need to know before you buy: And while I know you’re here to hear all about it, this is one of those few times when I want you to trust me and read this book without knowing anything else because that was a big part of the magic for me. I tore through the whole novella in one night and was blown away. When I read A Spindle Splintered, I had completely forgotten what it was about.

While the book is understandable when reading it without having read the previous two books, in my opinion, it definitely suffers for trying to make itself a stand-alone read. When I see this with books, I assume it means the book is intended to be able to be read as a standalone book. Winter quickly learns his father’s motives are questionable, the pack alphas are a bunch of pussies, humans aren’t quite what they seem, and nothing in the forests of Connecticut is pure except love.ĭisclaimer first, this book is actually book three in a series, even though it is not advertised as book three anywhere, either on the book itself or in the book details information. He can’t let himself get distracted by the young, platinum-haired beast, but then Winter proves invaluable in the search for clues, a move that winds them both up in chains and facing imminent death. Partridge is embroiled in an investigation into drug dealing and the death of a fellow agent. Winter takes one look at FBI agent Matt Partridge and decides bird is his favorite food. Of course, Dad’s hopes are dashed when they come face-to-face with the gay werewolves in the Harker pack. It’s no surprise when his father drags him from his wild life in remote Canada back to Connecticut to meet his old pack in hopes it will persuade Winter to abandon hi love of sex with human males. Winter Thane was raised on the two cardinal rules of werewolf existence: don’t reveal yourself to humans under penalty of death, and there’s no such thing as a gay werewolf. 10563457 Cataloging source FO7 1977- Lynch, Paul Dewey number 823/. The ease with which readers can access the editorial glosses (hover/click over the word and the gloss appears) is extremely impressive and convenient. The "sensitivity notes," which flag areas in the text that can be triggering or traumatizing for certain readers, is certainly a modern touch that does not distract from the experience of engaging with Shakespeare in any way, but that may be appreciated by sensitive readers. Like all bibliography, it will become dated over time but could be updated as new scholarship emerges. I think concerns about misogyny, racism, ableism and classism are here to stay, and that the resources this edition offers students and teachers who are interested in these topics will remain relevant. My experience reading this text was no different than reading editions published by other major publishers of Shakespeare editions. The text of Romeo and Juliet is accurate. This edition also includes resources for teachers, like bibliography, and detailed lesson plans for each act of the play. This is a comprehensive edition of Romeo and Juliet, which distinguishes itself from other open access online editions by including editorial notes. Emmy’s the perfect best friend and I loved how Willa got jealous about her best friend’s relationship. Yes, they are together and I’m so happy for her. I recommend reading Neutral, that is Emmy and Cyrus’ book. The build-up from Book 1 to Book 5, them finally tying the knot, was probably my favourite part of this book! Together, they are such a cohesive unit. I really loved Willa and her crazy AF humour.Ībout the guys… I’m gonna miss Coen, Rome, Aros, Yael and Siret so much. From being clumsy and creating chaos, to thinking through her actions and being the powerful person she was meant to be. Looking back, I think I loved watching her grow. Willa Knight has grown so much as a character. It was unique, lighter than the usual fantasy novels, but can still stand as a fantasy series. The authors have built such an amazing world. The plot is action-packed, fast-paced and emotional! Every revelation unfolded smoothly, the bad guys defeated and Willa and her knights finally getting their HEA! I know I can reread this anytime, but it wouldn’t be the same.įirst off, Pain is the perfect final book in the Curse of the Gods series! The authors have tied up all the loose ends, and the plot kept me so engaged. I can’t believe this is the final book in the series! Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama of life in the mythical village of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire-an allegorical representation of all life-is an American classic. He treats people of this lost era like primitive creatures who just didn’t know any better. Writer-director Chazelle thinks he’s created a vision of 1920s Hollywood, but no matter how much research he may have done, he hasn’t listened at all to what these faces, these stories, have told him. Its central character is a narcissist with no complexity, no interior contradictions-not even Margot Robbie, among the most appealing performers we’ve got, can animate her. It advertises its alleged extravagance and glamour, loud and hard, but only comes off looking tinny and cheap. Babylon isn’t a film made with love, or even with any degree of exactitude it pretends to be a movie about “loving movies,” but more than anything else, it seeks to reflect glory on its creator. In a moment of heedless generosity, you could almost commend Damien Chazelle for caring enough about the last days of the silent film era to make a movie about it-if he showed any evidence of caring at all. |
